Fishermen's perceptions of destructive fishing in the Pangkep regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

To date, destructive fishing practices continue in the waters of South Sulawesi, particularly North Liukang Tuppabbiring District Pangkep Region. The fishermen's ability to reduce harmful heavily depends on how they interpret and its impact marine resources. aim this study is examine attitudes toward damaging Sulawesi Tuppabiring District. This was carried out two locations i.e. fishermen living coast islands. method used a field survey using questionnaires 50 respondents, consisted 20 coastal area 30 island area. sampling technique utilizes disproportionate stratified random method. Data were analyzed by measuring index values, then categorization done composite index. results showed that had lower perception level than economic aspects (3.52 vs 3.81), law enforcement (2.47 2.81) social conflict (2.69 2.81). However, have higher environmental preservation natural resources (1.38 1.06).
